Daphne the Cynic
In a world where the gods have predetermined all thoughts and outcomes, mortals are resigned to toil in a grotesque vomitorium: a lavish Roman palace where the elite feast, party, and purge. But when Daphne, the cynical facilities manager, has a thought—an actual, original thought—it sends her and the world spiraling into an existential crisis. Things get even stranger when the hubristic Icarus suddenly crash-lands in Daphne’s laundry basket, preaching rebellion against fate. Soon after, the bureaucratic gods arrive to hunt him down only to be mistaken as visiting dignitaries negotiating tariffs on olive pits, sparking Daphne to incite a chaotic, wine-soaked workers’ rebellion. Amidst absurd consumption, Daphne finds meaning by embracing an existence built on compassion and community, the ultimate journey towards authenticity.
