Quiddawick is a gothic, Lynchian tale about an election auditing assignment that unravels into surreal descent — until fear, misinformation, and fundamentalism rot the foundations of democracy.
Tillie, a Unionist party official, is sent from the city to the sleepy upstate town Quiddawick to interview 24 voters in the wake of an unexpected election wipeout. However, upon arrival, Tillie discovers that her contact, the Mayor Humphrey, has been missing since Election Day. Assisted by the affable, yet frank innkeeper Owen, Tillie starts to unravel a web of confusion surrounding the town’s political shift, the increasing power of a local church, and a creeping, unexplained evil that burrows and roots through the town.
